MorningPrayer Friday

Dear God,
    You said through the prophet, "Be still and know that I am God."  With your help we would like that stillness.  The quiet that comes in the silence of the night that is like a warm blanket and a soothing prayer. The serenity of the heart that is the fullness of a star-filled night or a soft meadow filled with flowers. A spirit that is alive and vibrant but contented and fulfilled.  May your stillness be in us, O God, so we may be in your rest and peace. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
