MorningPrayer Wednesday

Dear God,
   We approach the New Year with hopes and dreams. You have given us rhythms and cycles of life as floats to help us measure and keep track of our life. You have given us faith as a way to measure our humaness as we relate to you and one another. If we have taken stock of ourselves and challenged ourselves to greater heights, then we ask for your help, guidance and comfort. Help us to grow in purity, beauty and truth. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
