MorningPrayer Thursday

Dear God,
Sometimes the remnants  from the past fall around us like scattered leaves, gather around our feet and flow and flit into our living space to become dust and mess. Sometimes we are overwhelmed by the memories, pain or shame and can't break free.  We need your freeing saving grace. We need you to sweep our space clean and help us start again. We need your command to exorcise the demons and calm the wind and waves. May your word of love blow across us with a Holy Spirit passion. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
