MorningPrayer Thursday

Holy Jesus,
     Your prayer gives us strength and hope.  We live in the realities of bread, temptation and forgiveness--between the vision of heaven and the ethics of earth. We pray to be less self-absorbed and more absorbed by the truth, beauty and harmony of the world around us. Sustain us with your vision of us, your hopes for us and your dreams for our potential. May we stand on the mountain top of your grace and be worthy of your love.  In silent joy we gather in your name. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
