MorningPrayer Wednesday

Dear God,
   Sometimes it seems we live in a world of polarized conflicts and opinions so strong we  are broken by strong winds.  And yet, how much simpler it would be to bend with the wind while staying rooted in the ground; to be palm tree rather than maple.  How much better for relationships and communities and families if we can reason and let go and move on.  We do share this earth you have given us and we do desire to live together in harmony.  Help us, O God, because it appears we are failing .  We are a stubborn people and we need your help.  We throw ourselves on your mercy. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
