MorningPrayer

Dear God,   Help us to be at our very best today; kind, caring, patient, cheerful.  Help us to reach deeply into our own souls and release the burning embers of creation, the grace that washes the world in unseen energy and power.  Help us to be peaceful and calm, a sea of inner serenity  in the midst of whatever chaos the world hurls at us. Hold us in the eyes of the angels, a gaze of infinite grace and joy. AMEN

Dear God,    For patience we pray.  For the ability to sit and wait quietly for the unfolding of the universe.  For the ability to move forward without time pulling us down and nipping at our heels.  For the ability to be still and put our mind at rest and live in the moment and not in a future projection.  For the ability to look at your face, O God, and be caught up in the mystery and wonder of eternity.  For all this we pray. AMEN

Dear Lord and God,    As we, the church meet today may it be done with a  sacred and spiritual holding of hands in unity and solidarity. Wherever we are, may we pause as the Body of Christ and gather ourselves as one for a vision of the world that is full of hope, peace and compassion for one another. May we sing a song of tolerance and understanding.  May we be saturated with the love of God as we are anointed with Holy oils and our cup overflows. AMEN

Dear God,     In the attic of our minds, may we discover treasure packed away in trunks and boxes of our history that offer memories of joy, wonder and mystery.  May we sweep the attic clean of cobwebs and dust  that cause discomfort, pain and needless difficulty.  May the windows be opened and cleaned so that fresh light will illuminate and give us fresh insights and new vision of hope. May you be with us, O God, as we explore this precious attic. AMEN

Dear God,   This early morning, the moon still rides the crest of the sun, high in the western sky.  The air is strangely still and only the murmur of a newborn doe flicks against the darkened woods. We have cast aside the blankets of night and coast quietly into the new day.  Perhaps, God, it is a dawning like  many others, or perhaps, it will carry the sound of the Holy Spirit stirring and the whispering of new possibilities, life, rebirth. Shall we take a chance and be reborn, allow the wind to fill our lungs and your heart to beat in our chest?...may God in us be...AMEN

Dear God,   In the morning light we see again the patterns and colors of the world.    Lord, our Lord, how abundant is the majesty, variety and texture of the universe.     We give you thanks and praise for the sights and wonders ;that greet our eyes.   May we have the vision that sees beyond the contours of form and color into the beauty       of your touch and your love.   May we know clearly the grace that flows and the hope that exists as we lift our hearts up in prayer.   In our Loving God we pray. AMEN

Dear God,    Sometimes the walkway of life is not a smooth sidewalk through a grassy lawn but a slippery rope crossing over a swamp.  Our prayers are for those on the smooth walk; might they be in gratitude and thanks for the comforts, ease and blessings of this walk.  Our prayers are for those  who fear and struggle; might they have eyes and vision that  keep them focused on faith and hope.  Might there be inner peace in the midst of outer turmoil and strength and love of life that is found in the swamp.   Might Jesus hold our hand in our walk. AMEN

Lord God,   There is music playing in the trees, a harmony of strings sawing at our heart.  A laser show joins in and sparkles brilliantly in castanets and twirling golden dresses. What miracle of life lifts us up, flinging us into distant stars where we are ground into dust and scattered as seeds of new hope?  What rhythm of grace is this that leaves us breathlessly waiting for the next note and dance step? ... this is the wonder of God's touch, the ultimate source of light and love. In you, O God, we live and breathe. AMEN

Dear God,   As thoughts flicker through our minds, like lightning bugs flashing, might we find and capture that one true thought that illuminates our day. Might it be the holy thought of sacred worth.  Might it  be the divine light of your love. Might it be the light that comes into the world and gives sight and clarity of being to all. Might we hold and be held by the Christ, the cosmic light of the world. AMEN

Dear God,   Sometimes, summer leaves us breathless as we rush from leisure activity to leisure activity.  So much fun and relaxation can occasionally be hard to take. Thank God for church where we can go and just sit.  Lord, we don't even have to stand up or sing or anything.  My goodness, we can even sleep if we want, I am sure the preacher won't mind, too much. So off to church we go; maybe we will see a few friends, and have a chance to put our feet up and relax, and meditate and pray.  Ahh, sounds good. AMEN

Lord,    Hear our prayer.  Hear our cry of distress and show mercy upon us. We thirst for your presence and your help.  Do not ignore our pleas and turn your face away from us for we look to you in times of need.  O Lord, hear our prayers of gratitude and thanks.  For you have given us all we need and blessed us with long life and beauty and truth.  For we are your children and we pray to you without ceasing and give thanks in all circumstances.  In Jesus name we pray. AMEN

Dear God,    It is a colorful day; molten gold pouring from the heavens of liquid, sky blue eyes.  Flaming greens carelessly casting thousands of hues in reckless abandon, like birds twirling lassos. Random daubs of color from an artists palette, like lipstick smudged on toddlers cheeks.  Ahh, create a colorful heart of spirit joy in us, today, O Lord, so that we might swirl the colors of creation in a loving embrace of fun-filled grace. AMEN

Dear God,    May we pause in beauty today as the light of the sun sparkles all around us.  May we pause in the sounds of the moment as the melodies of life resonate in stereophonic harmony.  May our minds be balanced and clear as we walk in truth and certainty.  May the rainbow of God's love end in a golden pool of light on all those who need reminders of love and grace. AMEN

Holy Lord and God,    As we cruise the seas of this day, might the winds be slight and the rains be gentle.  Might the sun be warm and the company be pleasant. Might our food be healthy and our hearts beat strongly. Might the air be clean and our lungs be pure. Might we smile and laugh and be filled with joy....but....if the opposites be our journey for this day, might you be there to keep us afloat.  Might someone else throw us a lifeline. Might our spirit survive to sail again in calmer seas. AMEN. p.s. ...or, if someone else is floundering, might we be the ones to throw the lifeline. AMEN

Dear God.    Let me be emptied.    Then...    Let me be centered.    Let me be opened.    Let me be filled    In your Spirit and your love.    AMEN

Dear God,    Sometimes our minds spin like a brightly painted top or a spiraling galaxy, flinging stars and ideas out at warp speed. Sometimes we loose our balance and totter out of control, careening across space and wobbling uncontrollably.  We are breathless in our spinning and our wobbling.  Help us to stop and be still O God. We can't keep up. We need a Holy pause to experience the Divine in all things. Like Jesus, let us go to the mountain top and pray. AMEN

Dear God,      Our tasks and chores stretch before us, another day becoming.   May we experience our duties and responsibilities as the blessings of our living and not as just duties to be done.  May we be mindful of the moment and of the breath we take so we live and be with a smile and not a frown.  Remind us, O God, to pause and relish the opportunity and not dread the event. AMEN

Dear God,   In this ever changing world, it is sometimes difficult to keep up and stay up.  There are risks of disaster both natural and of human origin that can occur without warning, but yet, we don't want to live in fear. There are issues of personal health and relationship. economics and comfort that are part of our daily events. If we focus on the waves, the wind and the chaos, then we shall surely struggle and sink...but if we focus on you, Our God, and the life you give us as a blessing, then we shall surely walk on water and live on the wings of a prayer.  In Jesus name we pray. Dear God, May we be a lake of purest water; reflecting the passing world in all its variety. May we be a deep lake with a depth of wisdom that absorbs the reflection and ponders the complexity and meaning passing along its surface. May we be a bottomless lake that is only contained by your cosmic love and finds its constant source and renewal in the springs of your eternal grace. In the living waters of Jesus name, we pray.
