MorningPrayer Friday

Dear God,
   What will today bring? Will it bring the Alleluia of a praise song exploding from a flower.  Will it bring the light of a star coasting to earth after a million light years.  Will it bring the sad patient smile of a person in pain. Will it bring a bill unpaid, a task left undone, the dirt in the garden gathering weeds. We do't know for sure, do we, God. But whatever it might be, we pray for your presence and your grace. May we, ourselves,  be a murmured Alleluia , whispered through the universe of stars. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
