MorningPrayer Monday

Dear God,
     Sometimes the world is so filled with sadness and sorrow on both an individual personal basis and crises of a larger humanitarian nature, that we hang our heads in both grief and despair. But we do not give up. We reach out in prayer and prayer lifts the clouds and gives rise to the sunlight of hope. We look to you, God, to help us in our problems and pains.  We look to you to help us strive for a higher level of being of kindness and love. We rest our lives in the Holy Spirit of your presence and the Jesus of compassionate touch. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
