MorningPrayer Friday

Dear God,
   When we are tired and weary, offer us a new sunrise to brighten our day.  When we need beauty and joy, offer us a sunset of flaming golds and reds.  When we need balancing and refreshing, offer us a day of crisp opportunities and joyful harmony.  We pray for the gift of your love and your grace and your presence in our day. As you offer yourself to us, may we open our hearts to your gifts. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
