MorningPrayer Thursday

Dear God,
    For many of us, this is a day of food, family, friends, gratitude, thanksgiving, story telling and joy.  We are grateful for the blessings and the good fortune that we have.  Truly, life is a blessing and a precious treasure.  Thank you God.  But, we are also painfully aware that many are not so joyful, having suffered losses or not having  the blessings of food and family that we have. We are prayerful for those who weep.  May they know your peace and abundance of mercy.  May all of us be aware of our blessings and the gifts we have.  In Jesus name we pray. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
