MorningPrayer Sunday

Dear God,
   Let us find a sanctuary of your presence this morning; a pew of silence, a meadow of quiet, a pond of stillness a river of solemnity, a garden of gentleness a chair of repose. May we retreat from the clutter and clamor into the Word of harmony and loving prayer. May our meditations be of simplicity as our spirit delights and our soul is renewed. May we know the peace of your ultimate being as you call us by name and hold us in the palm of your hand. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
