MorningPrayer Sunday

Dear God,
   Sometimes we long to have awesome power and reach out a long arm, and with piercing vision heal the sick, feed the hungry, bring peace into war torn nations and tend the broken-hearted. Sometimes we wish we could say the power word and it would be done. But we realize that we are not powerful but we are, instead, people of faith.  Our faith and our commitment to justice, righteousness and compassion bring us into prayer and activity. Help us, O God, to do what we can, each in our own way to bring love and grace into our world. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
