MorningPrayer Sunday

Dear God,
    Now that we have been filled with seasonal offerings of gifts, food, lights and sounds. Now that we have given the best of ourselves and done our utmost to lift you up in the community of family, friends and faith, we pray a new prayer.  We pray a prayer of emptiness so that we might be filled once again in your love and live in your grace.  Center us and perfect us humbly, burn within us as a cosmic flare of Holiness. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
