Dear God,
     As we unpack the boxes of Christmas past and place memories on the tree and lights of the old days on the mantle, may we do so with glad hearts and joyous reflections.  May we leave room on the table and spaces on the tree for new memories and new possibilities.  May we leave a space in the room for surprises with opportunities for new  lights, shining brightly in the dark.  As we unpack the nativity set and lovingly place the story in place may the love of God light up our lives, like a shining beacon of hope and praise. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
