MorningPrayer Sunday

Dear God,
   Sometimes we are on automatic pilot, like a robot programmed to our daily tasks. Sometimes, this is the best we can do--just function.
But with a little encouragement, perhaps from a loved one, or a little help from a friend or a helping hand from you, we can do better than just function. We can live. We can see and know beauty.  We can feel love and harmony.  We can be awake, aware and alert. So, please lift us up on eagles wings, caress us with a song and be the pulse in our souls, O God. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
