MorningPrayer Thursday

Lord,
       In the darkness of our night and in the fog of our morning, we know you are there, silently reaching out a hand and whispering in the hush and gloom.   Be strong, fear not, you intone and your eyes light the pathway of righteousness , faith and safety. You hold our stretched and straining heart and the fabric of our selves so we won't split in two. In confidence and security, we lay down, knowing your angels  hold us in their arched wings and your voice soothes our soul. Blessed are we in this vessel of love and grace. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
