MorningPrayer Monday

Dear God,
     Sometimes we stare at the boxes in the attic of our mind and wonder what to do with all the stuff stored there. What do we keep, what is important, what can we discard now or later? We peek inside a box and good memories overtake us, or we are saddened and then try to forget, again.  We need clarity of mind and purpose to keep up with this storeroom.  Would you help us, God? Let us pause and contemplate and then with your assistance, be deliberate about fall cleaning. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
