MorningPrayer Monday

Holy Lord,
   Sometimes interrupted in the routine, surprised, startled.  Is it grace that falls on us, changing our perspective of hope and our vision of the present?  Is the moment new and fresh and are we awakened to a new possibility?  When our eye blinks, what do we miss?  In between heart beats, what do we feel?  In the long inhalation and exhalation of breath what spirit do we possess?  Startle us, O God. Let your grace awaken us to the fresh colors of a new day. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
