MorningPrayer Sunday

Dear God,
    Where are we, this morning of this new day in January?  Are we in the sanctuary with candles burning and crosses flaming?  Are we in your presence in mystery and light?  Do we hold close to our hearts the communion of faith and the empowerment of the Spirit?  Do we hold out empty hands waiting for them to be filled and drip with anointed grace?  In the clamor or hush of the new born day, do we hear your whispers of love and lean back in confidence, absorbed by the wisdom of time?  Let it be, O God, that we live in you. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
