MorningPrayer Monday

Dear God,
     We are people who need to live in hope.  Even in the face of loss, fear or despair, we need to believe that our life matters and that circumstances can improve. In you, God, lies our hope.  You are the energy of the universe that lifts us up in your image and does not give way to despair but believes by faith that we can triumph.  Keep us alive in your vision and your faith in us to persevere.  Like the Holy family at Christmas, we will make our journey without knowing the conclusion but believing in your mercy and love. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
