MorningPrayer Thursday

Dear God,    
        We are beginning to decorate our homes and our hearts with Christmas.  We place the evergreen of belief in the center of our soul and hang lights of hope across the windows of our mind. The ornaments of memory we hold in prayer before our eyes.  The Santa's of mirth take away our despair as we place Jesus in the creche of  reverent praise. Let us not race and fret but let us gently and peacefully advent the season of wonder and mystery.  In harmony and quiet splendor may we move in your spirit this season, O God. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
