MorningPrayer Saturday


Dear God,
The pathway through the wilderness is twisting, barren and rough.
The distant goal is sometimes foreboding.
Why do we travel, what risks are we taking?
 Why not just stay where we are and be content?
Is the vision of the Kingdom, the world of justice and righteousness worth the struggle?
Is the dream of equality and peace for all,
where the lion lays down with the sheep a realistic hope?
 Help our unbelief and create in us new hearts and souls worthy of your love for us. 
We do believe, O God.
AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
