MorningPrayer Maundy Thursday


Dear God,
The road to the Upper Room of the Passover meal is paved and narrow.
Only a few make the journey.
A halo of light surrounds the head of Jesus, do the Apostles notice, do we see?
The steps lead us upward to the room of grace and the meal of memory.
The room is filled with peril, because we are flesh, we are human.
Fill us in the room of your presence with the Spirit most Holy 
so we might make all our journeys in the loving peace of the living God.
AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
