Morning Prayer Sunday

Holy Lord,
   Sometimes we feel the world trembling, the rumblings of conflicts, catastrophes and pain. We long to hold the people and the land in a tight embrace, comforting  and consoling.  We know that you hear our groaning and respond in compassion and love.  As we reach out in prayer and concern you reach out in tenderness and strength, aiding and supporting; offering counsel and wisdom.  May your Spirit of Holiness continue to enrich us and empower us in loving peace. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
