MorningPrayer Thursday

Holy Lord,
   Lift us up to a high place of thought and mood. Take away our sadness and empty our tear cups. Soothe our troubled spirits with oils of comfort and garlands of new hope and promise.  For we long to return to the joys of our youth and the wonder of mystery and adventure.  In you, O God, we profess our love and witness to the creative potential in our spirit and wellspring of growth.  In gratitude we kneel in grace. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
