MorningPrayer Wednesday

Dear God,
   Your morning light wraps gently through tall trees, browses over hills and coats snowflakes in vivid colors. The dawning of the day offers new promise and mystery in this cycle of our life.  Perhaps, today is a day of gentle reflection, an Ash Wednesday of sorrow and smiles mixed together in the light of dawn.  We tremble, along with you God, (who surely must tremble and weep) over the terror that is carried out in your name.  Yes, we dip our foreheads into ashes of pain over humanities losses and your suffering.  Help us to find the way to enjoy the day of hope in the midst of trembling. AMEN

Good morning God,      Today is a sad troubling day for many of us. It is difficult to understand the choice of President that was made.   For the past year we have heard Trump express sentiments that are against everything we value and hold as moral in human relations. That he has been supported in his rhetoric is an indictment of our culture and people.   Do we really believe this, or were we pulled into political ranting and raving. It has been divisive, racist, sexist, mean-spirited and certainly not Christian in its focus and content. It is not the values that Jesus expressed or that the Bible shares of love, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. I am dismayed and pessimistic about this choice.       It remains to be seen whether he truly means what he has said and will pull our country further down this path.   With your help, God, we ask the Holy Spirit to give us a large dose of wisdom, clarity and kindness.  We need to elevate our values of goodness, acceptance, understandi
